Hello and welcome to Willow Class
Willow Class is a warm and welcoming Year 1 and 2 class at Townville, where children are encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive. We are lucky to have two teachers working with us throughout the week: Mr Shires teaches from Monday to Wednesday, and Mrs Goodwin is in class on Thursdays and Fridays.
We’re also supported every day by our wonderful teaching assistant, Mrs Howcroft, who helps make our classroom a calm, caring, and nurturing place to be.
In Willow Class, we aim to create a home-from-home environment where every child feels safe, valued, and confident to explore the world around them. Our classroom is designed to spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and encourage independent thinking, with thoughtful spaces and engaging resources that support meaningful learning through play, talk, and discovery.
Our learning is guided by our school’s three core values: Aspiration, Collaboration, and Exploration (ACE). These values are at the heart of everything we do—whether we’re working as a team, setting goals, or trying something new.
Reading –
Every child will have their book changed weekly. Please make sure your child brings their RWI phonic book to school everyday in their book bag so that we can listen to them read.
20 reads Challenge –
Every time you read with your child make sure you record it on the school’s gateway app. This can be their schoolbooks, books at home, magazines ect. At the end of each half term, every child who has read 20 books will be able to take part in a class treat!
PE –
Currently our PE days are Thursdays and Fridays. Please remember to send your child with their PE kit and ensure any jewellery is removed. You are welcome to leave your child’s PE kit at school from Monday to Friday each week.
